There’s something extra special about choosing the perfect Christmas tree each year — but imagine stepping into your backyard and cutting down a tree you planted yourself.
That’s exactly what you can start doing at Tree School 101 + 102, on Sunday, March 8, at Helping Hearts Tree Farm in Port Orchard.


Whether you’ve always dreamed of growing your own Christmas tree or you’re just curious about what it takes, this fun, hands-on event makes it easy — and affordable — to get started.
🌱 Tree School 101 – Noon
Perfect for brand-new “tree parents,” this beginner-friendly session covers the basics of planting and caring for your premium seedling at home. You’ll learn:
How to properly plant your tree
Watering and sunlight essentials
Early-stage care tips
How to help your seedling thrive in the Pacific Northwest climate
🌲 Tree School 102 – 1:00 PM
Ready to think long-term? This follow-up session focuses on what your tree needs as it grows bigger and stronger. Topics include:
Shaping and pruning
Growth expectations
Seasonal maintenance
Keeping your tree healthy year after year
AND REMEMBER ABOUT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!

Each one-hour session includes:
